What is the big idea behind your business?
Making insurance simpler by all means be it purchase or claims management. Can the customer make a purchase in less than 5 minutes and can the customer a leader you will want the business and your teams to adapt to this transformation immediately. However, you need to be patient since not everyone accepts or adapts to change instantaneously.
A satisfied customer is the best business strategy of all. What is your prime focus for retaining customers?
When it comes to insurance, it is the service that a customer receives during a claim that decides their future relationship with the provider. We at Bajaj Allianz General Insurance are obsessed with creating solutions that make insurance transactions convenient and hassle free. We are also constantly working towards creating solutions beyond insurance. The vision is to be a household name in the country when it comes to managing risks.
What was your first paying job?
I started my professional journey with New India Assurance as a direct officer in 1991.
Do you have a formal mechanism for making sure you stay in touch with employees and customers on the organization’s front line?
I believe in engaging in personal conversations with people within the organization as well as my customers, peers and stakeholders. I interact with my customers and peers through my Twitter handle where I seek their insights on various subjects including, how as an organization we could contribute better. I also use LinkedIn as a platform to engage with young and aspiring professionals.
I strongly feel that “Happy Employees make Customers Happy”, I am passionate about the happiness of my employees and how the organization can create an enabling and conducive environment for them. I share my views and seek feedback from them constantly through my blogs, e-mails or during my visits to offices across India. I want to know about their aspirations and their vision for our company. I have a dedicated e-mail id, where employees can directly write to me if they have an idea that will benefit the organization and as a leader I am ready to invest in their vision.

What strategies do you use in terms of planning your personal career progression?
Always have clarity of thought on what you expect from life and whatever you set out to deliver has to be good for both customers and society as a whole.
